Program Notes

‘Portrait of Scheherazade’ is a tone poem that paints a picture of the personality of the character Scheherazade, and takes place before the events of the 1001 Nights. It is intended as a prelude to the composition 'Scheherazade' by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakoff. In 2 distinct sections, it illustrates her loving and passionate side, as well as her persistent and determined qualities.
